Colour FAQs

What is the difference between Pastes, Pigments and Tints?

  • Pastes are more solid colours, somewhat similiar to artist oil paint. The Colour Passion range of pastes with people's names, usually do have a shimmer effect.
  • Pigments are powders, often containing mica and thus have a shimmer when mixed with an epoxy resin.
  • Resin Tints are fluid colours which can give a more transparent resin effect.

Similiar transparency can be achieved by using very small amounts of pastes or pigments.
Pastes and pigments are often used in the same resin pour art project, the pigment powders giving the piece a shimmer effect for those colours.

Do I need to stir the pastes?

Yes, it is recommended to stir the paste to ensure it is evenly mixed, before taking some to add to your epoxy resin.
Some pastes are more liquid than others, so be careful when handling them. Ideally do not turn upside down and hold flat on table when carefully opening.
