IN BRIEF
- MasterCast 1-2-1 has a higher mixed viscosity and a thicker consistency; offers a longer working time (15-20min) and a slower cure (6-8hrs at 22°C); better suited to pigmenting in resin art applications (one layer: 0.5mm to max 5mm thick).
- TotalCast is used for jewellery and mould casting and more fluid; short working time (10-15min); often used to coat and seal artwork on canvas, wood, mdf, glass, concrete, and metals. (one layer: up to 20mm thick)
- Ultra-Cast XT has a long open working time ( approx. 80 min); ideal for large areas of coverage ( floors, kitchen worktops, large canvases or art boards, coasters etc ); a longer curing time, but cures to a hard and durable finish with an elevated heat resistance of 90-95°C (for surface contact) (one layer: up to 25mm thick); very clear.
- DeepCast does not contain an accelerator. Therefore, both the pot life (10 hrs) and the curing time (full cure 21 days) for this resin are significantly longer than for other resins in the Eli Chem range. Ideal for casting river tables and other solid objects in molds (one layer: up to 50-60mm thick, max 12 kg mixed at one time)
- Hi-Build Artwork Resin is a high viscosity resin that produces a 3D domed effect. It is particularly suited to blob art, dot art, geode resin art and creating structural or domed shapes. It can be used on many surfaces such as canvas, wood, MDF, glass, Perspex, concrete, and metals. It offers a working time of 15-20min and is touch dry in 2-3 hours. (one layer: up to 20mm thick per drop)
RESIN COMPARISON
*mPas = millipascal second / viscosity / the higher the number, the higher the viscosity
**After full cure the resin is safe for incidental contact with food (e.g. serving) or use napkin under food. It should not be used as a food preparation surface or cutting board. For more information, refer to Food Safety notes.
** Shore Hardness Scale: This measures how resistant a material is to permanent indentation or hardness. The scale ranges between 0 to 100, and different scales apply to different material types being tested, some examples are: golf ball = Shore D 50, PVC pipe = Shore D 80 and bone = Shore D 90.
